Important: Changed Project Topic
Due to personnel changes, the original project topic has been replaced, the number of accepted students have been decreased, and the kick-off meeting has been moved to another date. Please see the updates below.
- This project is limited to 5-6 students, who will work in one team
- The participation requires a registration.
- To register, please write an email to the contact person (see contact on the right).
- The final list of participants will be determined in the kick-off meeting.
Master students with advanced programming skills, who would like to gain experience in working on a larger project from the area of distributed and complex IT systems.
infrastructures are ubiquitously present in today's IT world. Cloud
systems elevated the efficient deployment and maintenance of
applications and services to a new level. Based on this success recent
research and industry projects aim to apply similar concepts in the
network world. The current trend of network function virtualization
(NFV) solutions draws the attention of large Telco companies like
Huawei, AT&T, Telekom etc. and thus is expected to gain more and
more impact during the coming years.
An essential part of provider network systems is the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) responsible for registering, authentication, routing etc. of UE (User Equipment) devices, offering the interface for multimedia service access and communication establishment.
During this project the participants will get to know a virtual implementation of the Clearwater IMS project. The task includes a high available (HA) deployment and monitoring of all required system components. Furthermore, the system will be put under abnormal situations (e.g. high load, failing of certain components etc.) and must be able to recover from these.
Good administration skills for Linux servers are required, some knowledge of Cloud systems (user perspective) and basic understanding of containerized services are required.
If you are interested in this project, please write an email until the first meeting (see above) to Alexander Acker (email on the right side of this page).
Good administration skills for Linux servers are required. Some knowledge of Cloud systems (user perspective) and basic understanding of containerized services are preferable. Be interested in distributed and reliable IT systems.
