Content
This seminar covers major topics of context-aware IT-systems. It gives a survey of context-aware computing and special insights in modelling, frameworks, processing, personalization and security/privacy aspects. Also current trends in recommender systems, mobile and ubiquitous computing are discussed.
General Information
- This seminar will be held in English only
- It is limited to 12 participants
- Successful attendance will earn 3 credits (LP), resp. 2 SWS
- This course is part of module CIT1 alias BINF-KT-CITPJ.W08, module CIT3 alias MINF-KS-SOA.W08, or module CIT4 alias MINF-KS-BKITS.W08.
Target Audience
Bachelor students in (technical) computer science in 5th semester or higher, or master students in (technical) computer science.
Learning Objectives
- Independently acquire, comprehend and reflect a scientific topic
- Write a scientific essay (approx. 15 pages)
- Oral presentation of the topic (45 minutes presentation + 15 minutes discussion)

Will be presented in detail at the preliminary meeting, examples are:
- context-awareness
- context modeling and management
- context sensing
- context frameworks
- context processing
- security and privacy in context-aware systems
- context-awareness in mobile systems

Recommendations for literature and further material will be given individually at the beginning of the seminar.
